What your architectural fees buy - Proper management of the project’s building cost

The costs shown apply only to Peter Dalton Architect designed houses in the Sydney Metropolitan area, that are new houses (not alterations and additions), and it is strictly a tool to set budget figures for the project.

You should not use this House Design Budgeting Tool if you intend to build outside of Sydney. The costs may be different and we would have advise you directly.

If you intend to alter and extend you should not use this House Design Budgeting Tool. We and our Building Cost Consultant will have to inspect your house before advising you on possible costs.

What your architectural fees buy - Defining a realistic project brief

In helping our Clients prepare the project brief we help them:

Define who is going to use the building and the user’s lifestyle needs
Describe market expectations if the project is for units, townhouses, villas or retirement
Define the financial criteria for the project and prepare a realistic project budget
Set appropriate rooms sizes and dimensions
Specify special functional requirements which may apply to the project
We also:
Prepare a preliminary analysis of State Government and Council’s codes applying to the project
Analyse the advantages and restraints of the site and surrounding environment

This is to help our Clients balance their expectations against budget, codes and site restraints
